Moni, (Viking Princess), Aksdal

Moni, sometimes referred to as The Viking Princess as she was born in Norway, moved to the UK in 2002/2003 to enjoy and develop her newly discovered talent as a DJ.
Soon after, she built herself a name in the House scene of London.
Over the 5 last years she has rocked the floors on most of the clubs around London, with her tribal techy, funky, chunky and dirty house tunes.
This groovy bird is all about bass lines that hit you in funny places.

Besides from driving her fans mad in the Baby box @ MINISTRY OF SOUND for The Gallery, she has played alongside stars like Sister Bliss, Hybrid, John “Quiver” Graham, Schumfrog, Robbie Rivera, Smith & Selway, Adam Beyer, Judge Jules, Tall Paul, Nick Warren, Marco V, Anne Savage, Lisa Lashes and Fergie. Moni runs her own promotion SOLIDKISS at Turmills for Gallery in the VIP room and in T2, for Skazi and Chicime as chillout rooms, not to mention the heaving funky room for Innovate in 2006 and 2007 and as separate parties in The Telegraph and 3rd Base in Brixton.
She has been a resident of Antiworld playing both techno and tech house in side rooms and she has had the pleasure of playing in the following venues on different occasions: Egg, Mass, Fridge, SEone, Scala, Turnmills, Brixton Academy, Heaven, Canvas, George Four, Tongue and Groove, Chapel Bar, Studio 33, Alexandra Palace, Factory, Ministry of Sound, Stratford Rex, Renaissance Rooms, Shepherds Bush Empire, 3rd Base, White House in Clapham, On the Rocks, Coronet, The Telegraph. She has also been playing at the Dome in Doncaster, in Brighton and Portsmouth. As a part of a tour where she will be representing the funkier part of Silk Vinyl Recordings, working with an Irish DJ team regularly in Belfast. She is also well known in the tech house/ techno scene in Greece, Patra. She has done guest slots for several radio stations as well, such as Entice Radio and Club Town.

Moni has been very particular about that SOLIDKISS has its very own sound, and they are already well known for the great selection of DJ’s, plus a very special crowd that is one of the most welcoming and warm hearted group of people you will ever meet. Just within a few months they have generated a huge members group on Don’t Stay In where everybody know each other and keep up to date.

The PULSE team and Moni are close as promotion mates as well www.cubelive.com. Moni has been a resident for PULSE the last 3 years and she appears more often on boat parties, than any other female DJ in the UK.
Vikings like being surrounded by water so it must be a genetic thing.

Most of all, u hardly see anybody as groovy and happy to be DJ-ing as Moni. She is just a big bag of fun, enthusiasm and total bliss for ears and eyes.

Moni is producing and presenting music in team with her brother Tom E. Setapayack Gundersen AKA Askeladden. www.askeladdenmusic.com. Together they make the group BLUEBEAT, taking a more tribal and progressive tech house direction in their work and performance.

Just recently she has been asked to remix for Funklife Recordings www.funklife.co.uk so some awesome stuff is getting born as we speak, and will be out in June/ July 2007 She has also started making some dirty tech house tunes on team with high spec producers like Kriss Darang at SEone recording studio (Unknown FM) According to Pete Tong and Lisa Loud amongst others, this track is “the business”.
