BLUEBEAT is a collaboration between:
- MONI VIKING PRINCESS (Moni Aksdal)
- ASKELADDEN (Tom E.S. Gundersen)
- HEMLOCK (Matt Lewis).
The BLUEBEAT members are based in both the UK and Norway and try to meet up in London as often they can these days.
Askeladden (Tom E.) is introduced as the “Genius Brain Child” behind the project, and Askeladden refers to his sister as the “Creative Sound Doctor". Nothing less than pure quality is good enough when their magic emerges in studio! The siblings define Hemlock as the “Technical Master Mind” of the team. Together they make a remarkably, dynamic and unique sounding trio. Their expressions touch a wide spectrum of genres through a range of sound sources, vocals, live instruments and original arrangements. Moni VP ads her catchy lyrics and sweet voice to occasional productions, which generates a particular kind of mood.

HISTORY
Askeladden and Moni VP formed BLUEBEAT in Stavanger (Norway) back in 1998, originally as a Techno/Trance concept. After a period where Moni VP was busy sorting herself a DJ career in London and Askeladden focused on his solo productions, they finally decided to give BLUEBEAT a fresh start in 2006. Now they had both grown older so their expressions, tempo and style had matured significantly.
In 2007 Hemlock, owner and operator of Cube Live, joined the BLUEBEAT team. This was an easy and natural decision as his similar music taste was uncanny, often thinking the exact same thing when producing. It was as if he had been the missing piece of the puzzel to finally complete the BLUEBEAT trio! Quickly they became a strong, dynamic and innovative team, bringing their extensive experience, passion and talents together through their gorgeous display of sounds.
BLUEBEAT has proven to deliver funky and unique events for anyone lucky enough to catch them in their element.
Performances and studio productions involving such creative spirits surely make “The Recipe” for one-of-a-kind experiences to listeners.

CURRENTLY
At the moment BLUEBEAT wanted to take a break from the gigs and concentrate more on putting together a variety of material for a new, “Leftfield” sounding album. This will be containing everything from slow, melancholic, Dub, to Hip Hop, Funk, Breaks, Underground House and Progressive, driving grooves. They use a mixture of live sounds from instruments, vocals and recorded samples with technological expertise, which generates a more organic perspective.
| Recently they have created a beautiful Ibiza inspired, summer tune, called “Divine” that has been signed on the Axis Trax label. Moni VP’s vocals and lyrics make this Funky House track extremely catchy. When played out, it has already revealed it’s “floor filler” qualities and promises massive potential commercially. Also watch out for the gorgeous, melancholic piece, “Drops of Rain” and the Funk inspired Dub track, called “Positive Friction”. New beats amongst many, in the making as we speak. |
